Reflection LC : Poem

This is my another assignment in Literature and Culture class. Actually it's a reflection about the material that I've learned before. :D

 

What is Poem?

            Poem? At the first time, I felt excited when I heard that. That is because, I love poem. For me, poem is the one way to express my feeling when I sad, happy, even when I feel confused. Poem such a friend for me, I can express anything in poem. Poem can represent my feel because one word in a poem is meaningful. That is why I love poem.

            In fact, poem is not only about me or only express the feeling. I found different thing in poem especially if we relate with Literature and Culture course. It turns out, in a poem I got difficulties because poem is very complicated. It is not because the poem, but when I analyze the poem itself. I got confused because poem was not as simple as I thought. That is because, we have to analyze the element of the poem such as speaker, issue, figurative language, function, and tone in the poem.

            Honestly, I got difficulty when I did it because I have to focus to the poem itself. Each poem has different soul among poem and the other one. If reflect to me, I think that is not difficulty but a fear for me. We have to sure and truly understand toward our own interpretation of a poem because it could have our perceptions are wrong. To prevent wrong of interpretation, we have to include evidence on each of our analysis. Sometime, my interpretation was wrong when interpret the poem. That is why we have to always relate our argument with the poem as the evidence.

            For me, poem taught me to be sensitive and how to think critically. In addition, poem taught to argue that should be always accompanied by evidence that our argument is not nonsense. Poem makes us wiser because sometime there are moral values in a poem, and we have to be patient when analyze the poem. For now I feel a little phobic when meet with the poem. But, fear unreasonable does not affect my liking for poem. I also hope that in future I can analyze the poem well.
